How the idea for the game came about

The idea for the game came to me during a university class (since this is a project for a class), where the main challenge was to create a cone in front of the player that could attract objects. Since the project involved creative freedom, I was thinking of several games that would address that challenge, but I let my imagination run wild and asked myself, "What would happen if something like Lethal Company existed in the 80s?" I remembered Asteroids, but instead of just destroying asteroids, you had to destroy them to collect meteors and transport them somewhere. That's how the idea for this project came about.

I thought about several options on how to do it, since it would be similar to Asteroids I would have to apply new mechanics to the game, so I went to buy a coffee, sat down in front of the computer and was in this position for half an hour:


Until I came up with new mechanics to include in the game to make it different from the classic game.

Game schemes

Here are the schematics I made to guide me and demonstrate to my teacher the ideas I came up with for this project, and to begin developing it over the next few days. The only development I did was the movement and firing of the ship.
